Also called Dune Bashing, it is an exiting popular adventure excursion through the sand dunes of the Arabic desert. There are numerous excellent tour operators offering special services in order to make the Safari, a unique and unforgettable experience.

The regular service includes a SUV or 4WD with an expert driver, who pick-up visitors in their hotel and carry them inside the desert. It is some risky and not always enjoyable go without a well trained guide that can drive easily through the dunes maximizing the thrill.

Operators provide a wide range of options, including morning, evening and overnight safaris (there are also featured services). However, the best time to begin the tour is early afternoon when visitors can enjoy the splendid sunset.

The trip generally comprises roller-coaster ride over the golden sand dunes, a sunset view from a strategic vantage point and a lunch/dinner (often the typical Arabian barbecue) with traditional music and the Belly dance. Camels making take the “Ship of the Deserts” to a Bedouin village and other dune bashing like sand boarding, sand skiing or riding a quad bike, are frequently provided, too.

Visitors who stay until the night enjoy the desert feast. Traditional food accompanied with cups of coffee and dates is served under the star-lit night on the camps. They even can dress in Bedouin male or female garments, have Henna (temporary tattoo) garnishing the hands, legs and feet, and smoke the aromatic Sheesha (hubbly-bubbly/water pipe). Morning Desert Safari: From 8 am to 11 am. The cost of the safari is about 150 Dhs. (US$ 41) per adult and 100 Dhs. (US$ 28) per child.

Evening Desert Safari: From 4 pm to 10 pm. The cost of the safari is about 250 Dhs. (US$ 68) per adult and 160 Dhs. (US$ 44) per child.

Overnight Desert Safari: From 4pm to 10 am. The cost of the safari is about 400 Dhs. (US$ 109) per adult and 250 Dhs. (US$ 68) per child.
